This is clematis Cirrhosa 'Freckles'. I do have a picture some where of the inside which is really pretty. Dark red freckles cover the inside of the petals.

This isn't flowering right now though is it Sue ? !
I bought Cirrhosa 'Balearica' in the spring and am really looking forward to it flowering :))

Yes this is in bloom now but I don't think it should be, as it did flower mid winter, and I thought it was a spring flowering clematis and now i'm really confused. LOL.

I understand the Cirrhosa (from my trusty book!!!) to flower from "mid autumn to late winter" so i'll see what mine does soon !
How long has yours been there ?

It was on the other side of the garden in half shade and about a month ago I put it over into the sunny border and it burst into flower, but it already had buds on it before I moved it and it is in a pot, so I don't know if i'll get another lot of flowers later. I've had the plant for about two years and it was only this year it really burst into life.

I have another one still on the other side of the garden, but this has never flowered and I don't know what it's called as I lost the label, but from what I remember of the picture it's very much the same type of flower but a different colour. More of a yellowey colour. But who knows what these will do.
