Yes Louise, this was planted in 1996.
I bought it at our local Woolworth's - it was labelled 'Blue Bird' which is what I wanted. However, when it flowered it obviously wasn't that one. RHS Wisley failed to identify it and Notcutts (who breed hibiscus) trialled it but said it was too similar to an existing one to be worth marketing so you won't be able to buy it. I have named it 'Lady Bracknell' which seemd appropriate

This is how Carol's collection started, she wanted to move the one we had from the back garden to the front but we were advised that it was to big and old to safely move. So I promised to buy her another one, the rest is history.

Well I hope you've learned your lesson from the non-tree that fought back :-)
