I think its a 100% better now! It still needs more shade plants, though.

It wouldn't like it, would it???? You would know, Sbg - it is shaded not only by the shrubs, but also the younger ash tree is just behind me when I look at this border - so very little sun - if any - reaches this area. HELP!!
I wish I'd bought more of those yellow plants - they show up so well! I was after a variegated Fragaria that has white flowers, but the Nursery had run out.
Look in the July RHS magazine - Roy Lancaster did an article about it - that's what lured me there and it was worth the loooong trip. :-)

i have a phygelius at the front edge under the beech tree and it only gets about 3hrs of 'sun' first thing and it has been wonderful. they are very forgiving i have found so it might be worth a go.

I might try one further along, where the 'sun' reaches the border in the morning for a while - but not here, where it's really shaded all day.
I have planted a Bergenia (white flowered) and a x Heucherella there - it looks much better! I'll post a photo. :-)
