Fairbanks, the Golden Heart City

Why is it the Golden heart city? Love the colors.

Thank you. It is very clever. I thought it was a brilliant idea.

During the gold rush, we were settled in 1901 in the heart of the state by a merchant who could get no further by steamboat. Through the mining crash and a few fires Fairbanks became known for the spirit and zest to prosper. We are known for wild and exhuberant summer behavior and tolerance for the strange attributed to the long -60 winters. SO we've been nicknamed the 'golden heart' city. All nice and a little crazy. :-)

Now I learned something, did not know that.

:-) My partner, a local, really frowned when I passed that online tidbit to him. Easy to notice the wackiness, but we have a strong bond taking care of each other with the hard climate as well. I'm sure that is a more PC answer, though you can't google that one...lol.

:-) No one around here likes the implication of 'crazy'. lol.But I tell you, we don't even care to sleep in summer.....lol.

Aren't we all a little cuckoo anyway, and living in that beautiful surroundings will just aroused all senses. LOL!!!!!!!Good to have you back GT. keep us posted.
