It's the 9th and it is just starting to open up. Hope that's not the only sun we see now.

Has the sunflower opened up yet Cherylrp?

Yes I have posted more photos (check my photos out). I was lucky my sister-in-law got four and mine was the only one to survive. Think ithe culprit might have been the wasps like so many have been saying.

I've seen your photos- they look great. It was saying on the news tonight that there are loads of wasps around this year.

Yes, we have small holes in a granite wall (13ft) of ours that is build up with cob. I wonder if they are the responsible for that too as the holes are up quite high. But Im glad they left my sunflower alone.

I suppose it could be Cheryl. Perhaps with more sunshine down south you get stronger wasps who can drill through the harder stuff - we get the whimpish ones up here that only chase you about the place lol ! :-)

The holes arent actually in the granite I must add. Its in the sandy earth (cob) between them and they are perfectly round. We have seen the wasps hovering and one nosing in one of the holes. So never know.

It does sound as though they are responsible for those small holes Cheryl, perhaps they may have a nest in there. We had a wasp nest in our attic a few years ago and called in the council pest controller and he erradicated it from our house. At first we noticed a lot of wasps in the house around all the windows and didn't find out for a while where they were coming from.
