Rattlesnake tail- western rattlesnake

Rattlesnake tail- western rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox)

I told someone I used to collect them for hatbands!
Usually this is the last thing you see when they are going away from you, I don't mind the buzztails much, merely another one of God's creatures, usually non-aggressive, and minding their own business. I saw so many beautiful photos here on my first visit, until I get some more of my 'shrimp plants' I had to add this one. Everyone seems to like to talk about snakes, and most people are so afraid of them, they arent bad at all.
I rarely look for them, but the highway takes its toll in the spring and fall, when they travel to and from their talus areas (dens) to spend the summer in the cooler areas near the creek.

Milky, I found a grass snake basking on my lawn last week. I nearly had a heart attack, did that stop me from gardening, no, I love gardening too much to let grass snakes stop me. But still jumpy whenever I see movements in the flower beds when I am weeding. Lol. I guess I will be seeing more, as the house next door has been empty for over 10yrs and the grass is 3 feet high. As long as the snakes run back there, I don't mind
them visiting.

Had some experience myself of snakes in and around the garden, as well as in the house. Most will just take off - still not keen on getting too close to them though.
