Thanks Tt, pretty soon I'm going to be asking the most basic care questions such as what, if anything, to do with crocosmia once it has finished flowering. I've never done anything with my plants hardly for fear of damaging them, so look out for my questions as I've been more of a book gardener than a practical one. They have just had to look after themselves to a large degree.

I'll show mine now Bornagain ... i only found out 2 days ago that Lucifer grew to about 5' tall !
I was in a garden centre and there were lots of them for sale .... i was open-mouthed, i had no idea they got so tall and as for what to do afterwards .... surely they must be cut back ? !!!

He..he Ba.....I love this pic with the Lucifer, it is gorgeous isn't it? I planted some corms this year in pots but had just the one flower...:o(, but plenty of ordinary crocosmia flowers........they take up a lot of room don't they, I'm planning on digging most of them out...............

They do take up some room after a few years but the leaves are an asset too I think and of course Lucifer needs staking also. It seems a shame to just dig them up and throw them out like unwanted puppies:-( That's given me an idea.....we could found a rescue shelter for unwanted plants where gardeners could go and adopt:-)
