Have to agree with Arlene - you've really pulled together some great plants for your theme.

What a great way to get your children interested in gardening, a brilliant idea to go with 'Charlie and the chocolate factory,' one of my fav films the first one though not so much the new one, I like the courgette well thought out.

Many Thanks, Peeps!
Miss my greenhouse and veggy garden - but won't stop us having the "edibles", which, like the ornamentals, have to meet some pre-set criteria, lol!
It's great that we can always find variety names in fruit and veg to fit in with our themes. I'm still finding ones which would have been perfect for our "Oz" theme!!
Other edibles we are growing in containers are:-
Potato "Mayan Gold" (links to the origins of Theobroma cacao, the cocoa tree, as well as golden ticket, golden wrapping around choocolate, etc.)
Strawberry "Marshmello" ( a"twist" on marshamallow, fits our family name, and ties in with the candy theme)
Blueberry "Top Hat" (.can't seem to get this on pic in true colour/focus, for some reason?). Fits in with Willy Wonka's "trademark" headgear!
Shallot "Laser" - fits in well with Mike Teevee, and the TV Room, as well as with my son, James, and his love of Star Wars/Star Trek games (?)
In my livingroon, we have tomato "Chocolate Cherry" (suggested by Wohlibuli), and sweet pepper "Chocolate Beauty".
In a large box, growing carrot "Sugarsnax" (very apt for chocolate and candy), as well as a healthy "antidote")
Am running out of space, lol!
Bob:- I have managed to "extract" bits from both movie versions. The second (Tim Burton) version is "darker", but is closer to the original story. I love the adddition of Christopher Lee as Willy Wonka's dentist father (which lets me get on to the kids re sweets and tooth/gum hygiene, lol!!!!)

Not at all Good!!!
"This garden is being re-vamped", is all I got from the Council downwards!
Over 2 years ago, we all donated to having this re-vamped and restored, yet, there is nothing to see. I hope that they did not "misappropriate" funds - will keep a close eye on this one!

Not a good sign after all this time!

Courgettes have done well this year and still producing. The leaves haave grown huge so I have taken the secatuers to them to cut the oldest leaves off and they are now shooting out new leaves. Never had to do this before but there's a first time for everything I suppose.
23 Aug, 2009
Linda, I always have to remove large leaves here, which usually begin to show signs of mildew anyway. This is the first time I've tried yelllow ones.
23 Aug, 2009
We've grown the yellow ones before. We grow yellow tomatoes sometimes too. Sungold and they taste sweet.

Have seen seedpackets for those toms. May try next year, Thanks. :-)

We are growing three different sorts of tomatoes in the greenhouse including an italian one that is an oblong shape and hasn't so much fluid inside and is excellent for slicing on to pizzas.

Well, the world-wide search for a Golden Ticket, in the story behind our themed garden, created another sort of "Gold Rush", didn't it?
'Twas fab to be able to include our edibles in our theme, lol! :-)
