Yes Amy..if you see our blog Dont even think of tidying there is a pic of two bumblebees re arranging the moss.Kindly identified by Toto and Morgana....and apparently quite rare this far north. The bee sites describe them as an endangered species !

I'm not sure that you should do anything Bonkers. It would be wise to ask someone with more knowledge than me.

All covered up again this afternoon Toto,so guess the bees know best ! Never seen anything quite like it.Think the blackbirds have disturbed it by turning over moss in search of insects.

Or after reading one of you othre photos, maybe it was for nesting material. I really feel for the male blackbird as he's just like us males. Frazzled from looking after Mrs. and in my case grandchildren.

Lol Toto but at least in their case its only for the nesting season ! Ours an all year round job !!

YOu;ll have to put up a sign there....do not disturb, bees at work underground.

I must be the only guy whos good lady runs round after him stopping him from work in the garden ..dont touch that cut the grass clear the pond etc
actually no intention of doing it but if look keen then dont get hassled .Lol
Well if you wont let me work in garden might as well go down the pub..
You think Im joking well not allowed to turn on water feature in case I disturb tadpoles or the little bugs get sucked into the pump ..all that work and cant turn it on !
So out I go with my spade Jane runs after me saying Now what you up to ...just going to dig
He he clever eh ? Dont tell Jane though will you ...

Looks like you've just told the world Bonkersbon. Your intentions are good.
Are they bumble bees though as they usually nest near to the ground and there are usually about a hundred to the nest.
