they look healthy.

They have been very good plants, Sue. Will try to root as many of the runners as I can.

do you have them all in pots? David

The runners? Not yet, but this is my job for Thursday. Will fill lots of 2" pots with compost, and peg down the plantlets. A few have found a route to earth of their own accord, though.

I've only had this variety since last year, and have read that you should really cut off all runners to help the parent plants develop in the first 2-3 years (maybe someone with more expertise will see this and endorse or correct?) to encourage bettter and heavier cropping. But - what the heck? - this variety has the tallest and largest leaves I've ever seen in strawberry plants, and the nicest, biggest flowers and fruit. It's rarely available, so am going to take my chances (I don't like the thought of being a "baby" killer, either). :-)

Where are they running to?

26 Aug, 2009

The nearest small pot of compost, with heavy-weight paper clip at the ready - hopefully!

Lol!! how you doing?

26 Aug, 2009

Fine, but still in "was supposed to work todat, off tomorrow" mode, and, of course, the reverse happened. Should've worked today, as the weather was awful - bet the sun splits the skies tomorrow. :-(

Of course!! Like me (or someone else) choosing today to go out!!

26 Aug, 2009

At least you got out!!!! But, we did go out for tea, so not all bad. :-)

26 Aug, 2009

It was surprisingly warm today!
Tea out sounds good!!
the bus passed the tip, & I was treatening to ask the driver to stop for some compost!! Didnt have bags tho!!

Have you made more strawberry plants now, David ?
... or did you run out of paper clips ? :o)

30 Aug, 2009

LOL!!
How did the doggy clips go, Terra?

30 Aug, 2009

Dogs groomed, and 34 nails clipped, teeth cleaned, etc. etc. :o)

I've been busy in the garden, & just as I went to clear up the muck, the rain started! Grrrr!
Is Conker having a good day?

30 Aug, 2009

Yes, thanks... he's eaten well this evening. :o)
I'm pleased I mowed my lawns yesterday because today's weather has been disappointing...

30 Aug, 2009

I still think you need to train Truffle to do it! LOL!
Glad Conker is having a better time of it!

Hi Tt!
Didn't run out of paper clips, which am using, btw., but pots and anything else to "peg" down those "Olympic" grade runners, lol!

31 Aug, 2009

I think TT's away to bed, David!
You could have some of your pots back on sunday!

31 Aug, 2009

I thinks so, too, bless her!

Thanks, but need to use small 2" or max 3" pots for them, Marie - saves a small fortune on compost, too. You can keep the pots for anything else you pick up on your travels, if you want. :-)

31 Aug, 2009

I've got a few little square ones, from my herbs & wee plants!

31 Aug, 2009

I can use those ones, Marie - Thank You! :-)

31 Aug, 2009

Okey doke! I'll stick them in the trunk!
