That looks realy nice David. Love the architectural sharp lines of Cordys.

Hi David, I have just added a Cordyline Australis, it's in a pot. Mine is a bit more greener, and I believe I will have to bring it in during the harsh weather? They do make an impact - I am loving mine :)

Oooer, I have just noticed your trellis David, I have some like that too! Great minds... :)

This one changes colour, Sue. Early in the year it is green, yellow, pink and orange (there are pics elsewhere in my photos showing this); by this time of year it has darkened to chocolate brown and dark pink. :-)

Me, too, Bill (can I call you that, rather than "Odd", lol! I know you like them, too, for I've seen your "Cordy" pics - love the b/w version! :-)

Hi Janie, you should really bring them into a frost-free place or wrap well in fleece until they are about 4 years' old. I've had this one only since Spring last year, and put it in the shed over last winter. Eventually, when a decent size, they can be left out all year. Best planted in the ground, rather than kept in containers. To right of this pic, you'll see "Featured on Cordylines". Click on that to see loads of pics and info on them. :-)

The trellis panels I got from Aldi!! 4' x 2' panels, £4.99 each. I alternated rectangular and arched, just for more interest.

Wow great name for your themed garden David, i keep thinking i must get one of these to give some height in garden, but i've just seen its not really hardy.

Might hunt this one out meself David, very nice.

You can call me Daz if you like as the name is Darren or Dan as the TerrorJACdyl calls me!!

We tied ours up last year but guessing we'll do the same this year but fleece it up as well!

Hope to get it in border early next year....when border is done

It would be - eventually, Sk.

I found this one last Spring in our local "Homebase". It's always a thrill to find something which fits our theme in a local garden centre or DIY store with garden section; usually, we have to shop online to get good "names".

Thanx, Dan, will call you this as have seen this one mostly before, lol! Sounds like you have, or will soon, a project in progress with that border.

:-)

Yes. It's money and being back in work at the moment that has halted progress. Originally we were gravelling all the garden - low maintenance!

Then I found GoY, by chance, when asking a question on ponds....the rest, as they say, is history! Since joining and seeing so many different gardens, our ideas have changed so many times!!

So, now the path is down, I will be 'coming off' it with an extension of it up the side of the decking and will incorporate a border along the main path and a wider one by the deck. Hard to picture but hope to start it when I have my last week off this year in October!

I'm slowly working my way through your pics and blogs. Seen the Wizard of Oz garden - inspired and well done on winning comps with your entries.

I will keep working my way through them, along with everyone elses!!

Lol, Dan. GOY does make you want to change your plans, doesn't it? I've found so many plants here, and folks have been so good with plant suggestions, suitable ideas - even the plants themselves!!

Tip for my own pics - most are now in "albums", I categorize them as I go. On my homepage, click on "My Garden" and you'll see what I mean. :-)

Isn't it a shame that we need money, and we have to work to get it, and spend it in our precious time off? I don't mind, though, when it can all go in the garden.

:-)

Exactly!

It was having 3 weeks off - 1 unexpected - and inspiration from GoY, that got me going on full-throttle. We already had the veg patch in place a couple of months before and was able to move on for those 3 weeks - spent an absolute fortune as well! Still, we had saved for it as we weren't going away!

Having a nice weekend break at the xmas markets in Antwerp at the end of Novemebr so looking forward to that!!

25 Aug, 2009

I miss my veggy patch, but won't be defeated by lack of space. That weekend break sounds great. :-)

going with my sister and her other half so should be drunk.....er, I mean fun!! We don't drink much but it's fatal when us 4 are together!

Hope to get some good pics for a blog!!

Are you going by sea? Not much else to do on the voyage, is there? :-)

Will look out for a blog, then. Will the pics be in focus, technicolor, B/W?

:-)

25 Aug, 2009

Yes by sea - but will start drinking on coach possibly....voddie an coke in Dr Pepper bottles for me - what's the worst that can happen????

Photo's? Blurred probably!!

25 Aug, 2009

You wake up, still on the coach, and back home, having missed Antwerp and its markets, and the ferry trip, and not knowing what happened - lol!

Blurred pics of the Antwerp Xmas markets!! Just say that the blurriness is down to the frosted breath getting in the way (glad we don't yet have "scentivision", lol. might be very atmospheric, though!

26 Aug, 2009

you've sussed me already lol!!

later my friend :0)

26 Aug, 2009

Good Night!

I have to give up for now, have to have slept and be up again in 5 hrs for another day! :-)

26 Aug, 2009

I've forgotten where I started after all that!! LOL!
