Hello Ponty and welcome to GOY. Looking forward to seeing that tree in all it's glory. My was only about 6 inches height when it first bloomed!

How is the Magnolia now Ponty? Did the buds open?

Leaves have all gone now Sandra but the buds seem OK so I am hoping that Spring will bring good news. I have taken note of what the GoYers have advised so I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks Morgana. The buds are still sound so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I would mulch it or place layers of leaves around it, as I do my Azelea which is a large one.

It does have a good mulch now and is well staked against the wind. I think it will be O.K. but as I say - fingers crossed.
