My favourite fruit! Shame you don't have the partners!

I gave one to my neighbour Bernieh,it's sprawling all over his fencing and pergola,but it's only flowered once too,trouble was, his and mine are both males.Just my luck!!
I have a few others in pots,but no sign of those flowering.Maybe a female flower will show her face one day,fingers crossed :- )

Yes I know it needs lots of summer sun as well as the chilling - around 700 hours of below 7 degrees C during the winter. They are such a vigorous grower too - they need to be kept a manageable size or it's a hell of a job to tame them. I've seen fences collapse under their weight!

Not only do they need females to bear fruit, but if they are not trained at all they won't bear fruit. It's vital they are trained and pruned often in the first two years and then about twice a year after that.
