This was a new one on me! It's a small plant, and it flowers in September, so this is its first bloom. Until the flower opens, the plant looks just like a french marigold!

Greenthumb i agree, it does look like Centaurea.
It's always good to find a nice flower for the end of the season too.

You can Spritz and may be you will be able to take cuttings or split it if it get larger.

It would be nice to know - I suspect that it might set seed, with flowerhead like these.
