i started this in may, not easy as lots of tree roots and clay soil but its starting to look better, i may put some coloured gravel round plants because even though i loosen soil it just sets again like concrete,

Accually Sandra i think some mulch would do it good, also like you say gravel would look nice aswell. But it looks well anyway.

thanx GT thats a idea, may try that
Dee coloured gravel was a thought, so have to think about both ideas
thankyou janette, its better than it was, for sure
cheers carol, the thing was it cant be dug as there is so much roots fronm tree, so just managed to put plants inbetween hitting roots, so something just to cover and look nice would be great, cant stand that dry clay look

I like little areas like this , its an oportunity to try out different things , the Windmill looks great here sets the scene some dwarf/minature bulbs for spring could loko great and definately a mulch, as most of my garden is heavy clay and the more mulch I add the more friable it becomes.

I think it is coming along well. Looks tidy. Would a mulch work to help the soil not dry up and harden so much?
