I can scarcely believe that this garden was a bare pebble patch back in February.

Lol, Janette - I well remember that day, when "them indoors" laughed at us - you in your chocolate-coloured coat, and me in my chocolate-coloured sweater (by pure chance, I must add) - out there wandering round a rectangular patch of pebbles, trying to envisage a garden of any kind!!!!! :-)) XXX

Looks full and wonderful Dave.....Your hard work and imagination has paid dividends and you should be very proud of what you've achieved.
Very nice!!

Thank You Very Much, Dan!
It might be based on a famous story about chocolate, but I do enjoy having a lot of green, too! :-))

It just looks great mate. I'm in awe!!
Ali would love it as well being a HUUUUGE choccie lover!!
Want to get some choc cosmos for next year. Got a few varieties in seeds already so will look out for the choccie ones.

You can readily buy Chocolate Cosmos seeds and plants, Dan. We sowed our seed in 2008 (forward theme planning),to get those blooms this year, so a bit of a wait! You can also get them as ready-grown plants (but expensive). Will see what I can do for you! :-)

Don't be silly Dave, I'll buy the seeds down here when I see them! Thanks but no need to gou out of your way although that's a nice gesture, thanks.
I suppose if you're not looking for them, you don't necessarily see them but will defo look out now.....!!
Thankss again:0)

Just don't go paying £3.95, or more, for a plant which is not (considered) frost-hardy in the UK - OK? :-)

I'll look for seeds and see what I can find!

David - For the avoidance of all self-doubt I can tell you it was a pebble patch back in February. I distinctly remember the photos you posted of the initial activity. What a great transformation and how good it is to see your efforts come to fruition and thank you for sharing it with us. Pebbles covered, garden looking full, hmm this begs the question - so what are your sweet dreams for the garden's future now?

Looking good, David...
and, same question as Gardeningfriend... :o)

Thank you, Gf !
Will continue with the "chocolate" theme next year. There's ALWAYS room for more plants, even in the smallest of gardens. I might also move the planters around a bit and/or move some of the plants, especially the shrubs, which have taken off big-style. Still have many packs of annuals seeds, which I just didn't get around to sowing this year. One which I especially want to see growing in the garden is Nigella "Choc Ice". Haven't done anything with my small front garden, which will allow room for expansion. :-).
Already making notes and plans for a new "theme" for 2011 - HaHa!!!

Don't know, Janie, I never remember any dreams! But we do have a phormium "Chocolate Dreams" in the garden. :-))

David - Have you heard of the patio rose Sweet Dream Fryminicot? It has peach blooms - saw it in a garden centre yesterday - I wasn't tempted to buy it but it reminded me of your blog.

Akebia quinata ("Chocolate Vine") on the arch in the foreground, Clematis "Willy" on the obelisk, and lots of other "goodies" between.
