For my firiend Terratoonie. This is the small sausage tree in Balboa Park which was planted 3 years ago. For a 10 foot tree it is loaded with sausage-like seed pods. Photo taken August 15, 2009.

Mushybanna,
As far as I know they are not edible...however, they are used medicinally.
This tree is grown as a novelty for the sausage-like seed pods.
