These were growing wild in my yard. This is a native wild orchid in Manitoba and falls under the Plant Protection Act.

You are so lucky ! I bought one of these Lady's Slippers and it died. I should have researched it more before I bought it........it likes alkaline soild and I have acidic.

These are beautiful. Do these go dorment and come back after the snow?

They do! All my perennials die and become buried under about three feet of snow all winter, and temps as cold as -40C. I bring some of my annuals indoors, or take clippings and use root hormone to re-grow them for the summer. I honestly don't know if I would be so excited about gardening if I could do it all year long.
