Orange buds open yellow, fade to pink and white making the cluster of 12 to 20 flowers a whole multicolored bouquet. It was already planted here with no tag, but may be Rio Samba.

You're right there Irish, wonderful. I like the wood backdrop too. Is that placed for (a very effective) display or is it a neat firewood pile?

My daughter Catalin got creative with a load of kiln dried post ends from a local lumber yard that we use for kindling. Makes a nice wall on the porch, when it doesn't tumble into the flower beds (take it from the top, ding-a-ling).

Well done Catalin, looks lovely...(but listen to your Mom and take it from the top).
They would look great in the garden as a feature (secured with a piece of wire over its length to keep them out the plants) and a terrific insect habitat. Its a great idea, if you don't mind and I can do without the wood this winter I might try something here, Thanks.

Stacked right, you'd get a good windbreak, and can use pieces (off the top!) thru winter when the plants die down. Try cross hatch or checkerboard stacking for stability.

How kind, Terratoonie! From one of Gilli's descriptions, I think this may be Rio Samba rose: no fragrance but ongoing kaleidoscope of colors.

There's a similar one I used to have - 'Masquerade'...a possibility?

Masquerade is said to be scented. Generally I only plant perfumed roses, but took care of what was here. It's reblooming now, which is a nice feature to light up the grey days of autumn.

I can't remember if 'Masquerade' was scented....too long ago!

Just saw a Rio Samba at the extension service which has 4 to 5" blooms, while these are maybe up to 2". So don't really know but always bless the gardener that went before for leaving something!
