Now folks I do know the name of this tree (Rheus) It was only tiny when we got it but I wanted one for autumn colour. Again it doesn't last long because of strong winds. The purple 'cones' are a bonus and they stay on all year until fresh ones grow.

My dad had one of those but the roots spread through the cracks on the paving slabs. I`m not sure if its the male or the female that does that.

It's a bit of a pain Sandra - it's now growing at a 45 degree angle - no sign of roots though!

Great fall color and those candles are such a welcome winter interest. Another great plant.
