Datura - Blackcurrant Swirl

Datura - Blackcurrant Swirl (Datura innoxia (Angels Trumpet))

Now that it's open it shows the contrast off nicely.
I do still prefer the single white ones though. They are much more scented than the hybrids too.
One plus about these is the dark stems.

This seems to have everything going for it. Well-named, too! :-)

Where do you have this ?

It's outside during the day, but I'm bringing it in at night now as the flower buds were starting to drop off.
I let one of the seed pods develop & it opened up a couple of weeks ago it burst, so I have some seeds now. It'll be interesting to see if they germinate & are true to type.

Indeed it will Meanie.
They're fascinating plants.

Something just "clicked" in my head, been to check my seed box and, yes, have this to sow early next year. Arlene kindly sent us a pack of seeds earlier this summer. Am going to, hopefully, have our own next year, :-))

I always start mine off quite early - mid to late January.

That sounds like a good time, I'm always desperate to get seeds on the go once New Year comes.

David
There are those who would say that we start too early. I am fortunate enough to have a heated conservatory though, & I've always found it the ideal time to start off the plants that we expect rapid growth from through a single season.
I blame the failure of my Cleomes this year on the fact that I didn't sow them until March. They're usually 8 to 10 inches by then with good root systems in place. My theory is that if something is getting to leggy then you can pinch it out, but the most important thing when you plant out is to have good roots.
Rhodochiton is another that I start early.
