Peacocks are easy to remember Motinot, because they have that lovely blue peacock 'eye' on their wings ( there's one in my photos somewhere, on a white buddleia, I think - or might be resting on a windowsill...)
Tortoiseshells look like - erm - tortoiseshell, and Red Admirals ( old name 'Red Admirable' ) are the black ones with red and white edges to their wings. I run out, after that, because apart from the usual cabbage whites and the odd painted lady, that's about all we get in our garden!

Erm...isn't it a tortoiseshell, Motinot? Whatever, it's absolutely lovely...they all like purple flowers, don't they?
