Louise, mine is facing west and sheltered by a timber fence.....The soil I think is slightly acid, but not that much, I do just give a good mulch with homemade compost each Spring......This has been its fourth year, but its never flowered this late before..........

Hmmm.
Mine's facing south and in a dry alkaline soil that's quite thin.
I don't mulch or feed it because i understood they liked poor ground, i water the area alternative days through dry periods because the area's so free draining.
I think i should feed it from now on then, see what that does :-/

What a fabulous bloom .....isn't it just gorgeous and well worth waiting for. Such a pity it is such a toxic plant...it is SO attractive when it gets going...well done you!!!
5 Oct, 2009
Thanks Alzheimer...Why do the toxic ones always look so beautiful?.....Still ...as long as your careful with them and remember to wear gloves ......

....and keep any visiting kids well away!! But yes - you are right of course, Milky - they always seem to....must be Mother Nature up to her tricks again...."come and get me - if you dare" sort of message!!!!
