Thanks - they really do brighten up the border, which was a bit dull after the flowers had finished there.

does this one stay small ? it's a lovely colour

They are the ones that you buy as small potted 'instant' brighteners, Grindle, but I've found in the past that they DO come back each year and stay short.... so they are well worth it! The GC had four colours, but this one was to 'go' with the Heucheras!

I'll be going to Otter next week, guess what I'll be coming back with LOL

Didn't you say it was a different branch from the one I go to, Grindle? Pity, that - we could have met there. As I told you - it's my very favourite GC!!!! :-))

Thanks...

it is Barbara, I go to the one near Plymouth, Ottery is a bit too far for me to travel often :(

Yes, I remember you saying. I don't know if I shall get down to Otter again this year. It'll be mostly glitter, I suspect, very soon! And they clear their perennials at the end of the season, don't they.

it's started already :(((((( I refuse to look in October!!

GROAN!! At this time of year, it's Nurseries only. At least they stick to plants!!
6 Oct, 2009
it's extremely annoying, when you're trying to find plants, the big GC had pushed all it's bulbs into a corner

I agree - I had a 'word' with someone at ours, and she said 'Oh, but people are buying the goods!'...well, if they're there, I suppose they would be - but they are also losing the trade of serious gardeners, so that seems silly to me!
7 Oct, 2009
Surely serious gardeners are their bread and butter trade ?
If they 'supplied us' with interesting plants whilst they were plying the xmas tat we'd carry on buying right through the winter/year.
Then they wouldn't need to stock the non gardening stuff but as they keep the xmas tat they clearly don't want 'us' that much !
No wonder we go to the nurseries !

Somebody else said they make more money from the seasonal stuff - I suppose that must be true, or they would stick with gardening.
Think of the big one we go to - its name is 'Leisure and Gardening', not the other way round! 'Nuff ' said!
