Acer Autumn colour

Beautiful.

Gorgeous Mushy..

I'm just concered that the top 2 branches died awhile ago but the rest of the Acer is fine .
Does this happen with acers ??? does anyone know

I've seen die-back on Acer species before here in CA...however, I think the problem here is the lack of water...even when they are irrigated...they love more water!
