Most Erythrina species are pretty tropical and tender...this species is native to Brazil. I don't think it would tolerate freezing temps very well. A large tree may be able to withstand it down to 28 degrees F. / -2 degrees C. for a very short period of time without major damage.

So glad you enjoyed them all. These photos were taken with my older camera. The flowers on this tree looks more orange than red...which is their true color. :>)

I did enjoy them Delonix and thank you for showing me what I have to come. The camera did a great job, even the expensive camera s don't show true colour I think its to do with how the light hits it.

The expensive cameras have much better color than my older camera. I will take more pics of this tree soon.

I've seen this tree recently and it has many flowers on it now...which is out of season for this Coral tree. (about 90% of the Coral tree species bloom in winter here).

That will be great Andy, will look forward to seeing it. Is it winter here when mine should bloom then, or would it be too cold here for it. The seasons here are not falling like they should we suppose to have snow in January, but we had it in December, hope we don't get more of it.

Erythrina crista-galli can bloom off-and-on throughout the year here...however, it usually looses most of it's leaves in winter. It most likely yours would bloom there during the summer. Erythina crista-galli needs a lot of heat to bloom.

Thank you Andy so it will never bloom here then never hot for long and not as properly as hot as where you are.

Erythrina crista-galli does bloom close to the coast here...where temps only average hi:78ºF/26ºC. (day) low:68ºF/20ºC. (night) in summer...although, Fall can be quite a bit warmer.

Thats good it does nt mind the salt air then interesting, thank you for that I have it in doors at present.

It doesn't seem to be affected much by the salt air...that I've noticed.

Here only certain plants will grow close to our sea.

It's the same here. Many plants native to inland areas are not well-suited to coastal conditions. However, luckily, there's many subtropical trees/plants which are native to coastal areas...which grow well here.

Of course just thought you have the weather so you can keep them alive over there lol hehe

Yes, we're very lucky here in San Diego...we have the best, mildest climate in all of California.

The last 2 days have been cooler than normal with strong Santa Ana Winds (which are usually hot winds --but not this time)...however, the temps will be up to 75ºF/24ºC - 80ºF/27ºC by this coming weekend. Yay!

Its windy here too Andy blown my harbour over, hope it gets warmer for you, wonder if its any thing to do with that cyclone in Astraila, did nt Bush once say we have more to fear the weather, than terrorists, perhaps he knows some thing about the weather we don't.

The winds are all gone now. And the typical nice warm San Diego will return with temps from 75ºF/24ºC - 80ºF/27ºC. for at least a week.

Yes, most of the U.S. even parts of the deep south has had horrible cold and very rare snows. The northern tier states and east coast have had a horrible blizzard this past week!

Yes I have seen it on the news hence me saying the cars are covered over in snow, you were lucky to miss it all then.

Well, since no official snow fall has ever been recorded in San Diego (except in the San Diego County mountains)...we actually didn't miss it. lol! :>)

It typically only snows in our local mountains above 4,500ft/1,372m and most of the time the snow level is above 5,500ft/1,676m. (it usually only happens 3 or 4 times during winter).

Today the high temp was officially 78ºF/26ºC. in downtown San Diego and warmer inland (where I live).

Must be a sight to see snow on top of the mountain, while sitting in warm weather watching the snow fall.

It's pretty incredible! However, the snow even in the mountains here rarely lasts more than couple of days.

The highest San Diego County mountains are only 6,800ft/2,073m tall...the mountains would have be more than 8,000ft/2,438m for them to have snow all winter.

Lol that is higher than Ben Nivis our tallest mountain in the uk. at 4409 ft, 1244m

The highest mountain in California is Mt. Whitney...it's 14,505ft (4,421m) high...it's not too far away from Death Valley which is lowest elevation in North America at 282 ft (86m) below sea level.

Where I come under my county Warwickshire is Shakespeare country my town is 412 ft above sea level

Sounds wonderful! That's a perfect elevation for a good view. I'm located at 470ft/143M elevation. I can see the Pacific Ocean, Coronado Islands and the sunset almost everyday. :>)

lol Andy my view is a church opposite and at the side of me too Salem chapel at that, hehe. What wonderful views you have, you should take some photos of it and upload they love that on here especially views and sunsets. I would love to see the Islands.

I've taken many photos of sunsets in the past. I haven't been able to get good photos of the Coronado Islands nor the Silver Strand (my camera isn't strong enough -- I would need a better zoom lens)

I have posted pics from Coronado Island (the larger island across San Diego Bay) looking towards the other smaller Coronado Islands...which belong to Mexico.
