A couple of cuttings of Busy Lizzies that have now rooted after a few weeks in water.

Hope my penstemons root. Had to put them in water quickly as stong winds blew all my pots over today so used the broken stems for cuttings

That's a good idea! It's something I often do as well - convert broken branches of almost anything into cuttings!!! :-D

If they do root its a bonus, if not there's nothing lost

Do these last the winter ?

Thanks, Balcony...
I've added this picture to my Cuttings in Water blog, as suggested...
Pipsqueak...if your penstemons root in water, please take a photo for my blog. Many thanks. :o) Did you put yours in tap water or rain water ?

Quickly put them in tap water as don't have barrels here. If they survive this water they'll prove to be really hardy LoL
I have to filter all drinking water

Is your tap water full of nasties ?

Just really hard limescale Tt. I would destroy a kettle a week if I didn't filter it though others further down the bank don't have a problem

When you see the inside of some kettles, it makes you wonder what effect the hard water has on our digestive systems !

Hard water is supposed to be good for you or at least better than soft water. The only thing I am dreading about moving into town is the water as a lot of properties have totally unpalatable water. It has been an ongoing issue for years. I think they are finally getting to grips with it though or at least I hope they are

I'd not heard that about hard water being better for you than soft water... I wonder why....
My budgie, Crocus, always has filtered water...:o)

I think it is because of the calcium in the limescale but don't quote me. Other than that I don't know why it's just something I was told years ago

Well done.

Hywel: Busy Lizzies will certainly live quite happy through the winter in your house. They are tender so won't last past one frost! I grow them outside during the summer & indoors during the winter.

Pipsqueak: Today a branch of Fuchsia Dollar Princess broke off as I was trying to reposition the basket it was in in my greenhouse one balcony. I gave it to my granddaughter telling her to ask Nanny to put it in some water. Later I saw she had put it in the same cup I have some other cuttings in! I don't expect it to root as it is a branch full of flowers - but who knows? I'll have to take the flowers off at least.
