Yes we have exactly the same common name here in Australia too. I have one of these shrubs myself.

The name 'Yesterday today and tomorrow' whats the reason for it?

Drc726 - Brunfelsia latiflora has the common name "yesterday, today and tommorrow" because it refers to the colour of the flowers. They start off a violet colour, fading to lavender blue and then white - each flower only lasts for 3 days - yesterday (violet), today (lavender blue) and tomorrow (white). Its a magnificent shrub when its covered in all three shades.
