mine got a little fat pod on it sandra and it has turned a little red..Arlene and I were hoping as she had one doing the same thing that it would split so we could plant the seed...lol..mine is at my daughters now and I think the pod is still there the same as always..do you know anything about that?

28 Oct, 2009

Sandra do you water it in winter? How cold in winter and how much light do they need in spring summer? I would love to get mine to flower.

1 Nov, 2009

they need a rest time in the winter so mine is in the polytunel now...i gave it a good drowning yesterday no more water till the spring. if it gets frosty i'll bring it into my conservetory dosent want to be too cold......fingers crossed for more flowers next year...

2 Nov, 2009

Beautiful. I think I'm going to have to wait a couple of months for more flowers from mine! It must be all that water you've got up there!!!

15 Nov, 2009

My daughter brought the Clivia here Sandra it is sitting in my cool entry...the thing is..the pods have now turned very bright red since being in her home..I cannot help but wonder what will happen now that it is this cooler area....we will see..! :o)

15 Nov, 2009

ive left the seedhead on this one so i can wonder with you Cat...;-))

15 Nov, 2009

good I have let Arlene know... she had a photo of her pods on in August and they were bright red then..she thot they were about ready to split so maybe she can enlighten us too..

15 Nov, 2009

i just love collecting and planting seeds. ive got a few crinodendron...lantern tree seedlings....ive just sown some phormium and and agapanthus seed.....

15 Nov, 2009

I used to do so much of that..and have collected so many seeds from plants. To often I do not get around to planting them,.silly self gets so distracted...I have always loved doing the poppy seeds..just tossing them on the prepared ground after the first frost..too easy!

15 Nov, 2009

poppys foxgloves...loads of selfseeders in my garden. seeds in my polytunel are in for a hard life....i forget about them, the labels fade and i dont know what they are...but every now and the success....this year i maage cordylines. ive also been potting up a few from the garden, echium and geranium i DO enjoy it...;-))

15 Nov, 2009

I noticed my little snapdragons had some good fat seed pods on..have not snapped them off yet but have been gathering some seed starting trays for later, so must have it in my mind to do it..lol..

15 Nov, 2009

~ the pods on my clivia were actually removed and trashed by Dex but appeared to be just one solid pale coloured globe the size of an small pickling onion~ however he left the green pods on the same plant alone so will get there in the end!
This is from the RHS
Cacti and Clivia houseplants should still be kept dormant until March. Very little water (barely moist) and no feeding is advised until then. Clivia will additionally benefit from lower light levels (e.g. a back room where the lights are never turned on and there is not too much natural light) - this will improve flowering in the following season.

19 Nov, 2009

better move mine from the polytunnel then.....ill put them in the shed where the light levels are low..thanks for the advice Arlene...

19 Nov, 2009

Sandra..I just did a blog called ...gardening in this weather? I put a pic of my red buds in it for you...mine is in my entry way..there is low light there...and it is cool.

I saw this picture when checking Aeonium and went to check mine.. Thank goodness it was standing in a pot of water, is ages old had one red berry and two green ones . It doesn't seem to have suffered but is now draining out. I,ve never seen it seed before.. What else will I find if I go through your photos?
