My veg plot - March 2009

Having grubbed out the escallonia hedge and cleared the plants from the raised beds (camellias, which I moved to other places in the garden, phormiums, begonias, hyacinths and goodness knows what - a real mess of pottage!) I planted my first ever vegetable plot. Being a complete beginner, I went for plug plants and was rewarded with a bumper crop of salads, cabbages, cauliflowers and broccoli. The second batch, planted later in the year is not as successful as all the cabbage white butterflies and friends in Cornwall and Devon decided that this little plot would make a marvelous nursery for their little ones. I've spent many an hour caterpillar squishing!
