Musa 'Mysore' - Mysore Banana

Musa 'Mysore' - Mysore Banana (Musa 'Mysore' - Mysore Banana)

My 20+ foot/ 6+ meters tall Mysore banana blew down today. Most of California has had very strong Santa Ana Winds for almost 2 days. Very rarely do my banana plants blow down when they don't have heavy fruit on them. However, many trees blew over today in many areas of Southern CA.

Jacque, Milky:

I cut the top down to about 7 feet...and in the hour I was working outside it grew about 2 inches/ 5 cm out of the stump. I forgot if a banana hasn't bloomed it will still grow and put out leaves...even if the stalk if cut. I may get bananas after all. : > )

Mysore banana plant's ultimate height is between 15 - 18 feet/ 4.6 - 5.5 meters tall. It's was amazing this one grew more than 20 feet/ 6 meters tall.

Mushybanna:

Bananas are extremely fast growing plants. During Spring, Summer, and Fall they can grow a full leaf in less than a week. In winter they slow down and grow only 1 to 3 leaves a month...depending on how warm the weather is.

Rbtkew:

It has grown in 3 days more than 10 inches / 25.5 cm. -- I'll have to measure it to confirm it's actually grown this much though.
