Amy - I've answered on your picture but I'll repeat what I said here so people don't have to search for it.
This plant comes from Mexico so you need to give it full sun and a well drained soil. Mulch the roots well with straw for winter - the top growth gets killed to the ground but if the roots are protected, it should shoot again next spring

I saw this in flower at Trengwainton Gardens near Penzance growing in shade; at Kew its grown at the base of a southfacing wall. I'll check for flowers this week.
