Hi there Jeanleach, we're very rarely on this site now - just don't seem to have the time anymore. Luckily was in and came across your message - it was an old telegraph pole which had rotted away at the roadside near our house and most of it was unusable. The full length is about 9ft & we just dug it into the ground and put 4 brackets & hanging baskets on it. As it's so old, the wood has big cracks & holes in it, which we shove peanuts into and watch the woodpeckers teaching their young to peck out again. The squirrels also love to sit on top of it.
