What a wonderful thing to find in your garden! How big are they Pitta?

Nest vary the biggest we've had was about2 1/2 ft long but most are aboud 2ft.
They do reline the nests every breeding season and do nest repairs , After 3 years they tend to pull the old nest apart and recycle the material to new nests.

When the build they put some heavy material right at the bottom to act as a wind stabiliser , nor is that clever or what.
