Hi Great.
It is a young Pinus palustris ("Longleaf Pine" tree).

The needles are soft.
It is known as the "grass" stage of growth - because it looks like grass.
Glad you like it.
Conifers come in many wonderful shapes and sizes.
Some pond pics I took a few days ago are now on my file. It looks a bit plain at the moment because the flowers are just about to come out.
I'll put some more on in a month or two.

Is this a grass Longleaf? if so is it prickerly or soft. Its rather nice! Ive been looking for pics of your pond. Do you have any?
