Summer 09 Garden Landscape - annual bed looking right

Summer 09 Garden Landscape - annual bed looking right

The bed in the foreground is always planted with annuals - last year was African Marigolds, this year was petunias. Hopefully next year will be begonias.

The massed petunias certainly made a fantastic display.

Thanks everyone - I had intended the "annual bed" to be planted with begonias but didn't have any success in growing them so at the last minute bought some petunias to put in. Only downside of petunias is that they spoil very easy with the rain and although there were hundreds of blooms on them, they were spoiled by the rain before they even got the chance to flower.

That's a shame. One of my favourite pastimes is picking the dead flowers off petunias, I find it very therapeutic. Strange, I know !! lol ;~))

Yes Sue - strange ! I find them very sticky blooms and as I hate wearing gloves when gardening, usually end up with very colourful fingers.

I've got a box of latex gloves. Thin enough so you can still 'feel' what you're doing, but strong enough to keep the muck out, so to speak ! lol :~)
