Cerinthe major

Cerinthe major (Cerinthe major)

This is a self-sown seedling from the summer-flowering plants - it has grown so fast that not only has it flowered, but there are ripe seeds on it!

A love this plant, can it not become a Thug though??

wow must like where it is

My husband would say so, Doon - because it has seeded into the gravel path!
However, the unwanted plants are very easy to pull up, so no problem there.

They do seem to like growing in gravel, Grindle - I threw some into my gravel garden, and they've grown well there!

Somehow mine never look as good as this.

How can they not, Toto? Mind you - these seedling plants haven't got the blue-y colour of the C. major 'Purpurascens'! Shame, that. :-((

Pleased you put this on Spritz....I've been given Cerinthe seeds and wasn't sure whether to just sprinkle them in the garden or in pots in compost.....think I'll pop them in the garden now...:o)

Yes, Janey - do - they'll germinate quickly! I don't bother with pots any more for these.

Yes, so are mine! Amazing, when you think that I sat patiently and picked loads of seeds to send off to GOY members!

15 Nov, 2009

Really isnt that typical, thought we had lost it earlier on in the season.

15 Nov, 2009

I don't think I COULD lose these, even if I wanted to, Dd! LOL.

Is it evergreen Spritz?

15 Nov, 2009

Yes. It's amazing, really! It's classed as an 'annual, possibly biennial'!!
