They are fantastic plants; Kew has a Encephalartos altensteinii that is thought to be the oldest pot plant in the world. Google E altensteinii at Kew for more information. Its an awsome plant to stand next too.

I'll have to check it out...sounds very interesting.
I've seen E. alternsteinii in the ground growing
at the San Diego Zoo. The San Diego Zoo
has the second largest, comprehensive collection
of cycads in North America.
