This one is very common and grows so easily as do all Cordylines . Just cut off a stem about 18 inches tall and stand in a bottle of water , in a week or so roots develop and you can plant in a pot or direct into the garden.

Is it that easy over here too, Pitta ?
Does anyone else here do this ?

Pitta:
You can stick the cuttings directly into the ground
and they will grow very easily also.

Pitta:
Yes, they're very easy to grow...and people love
them! However, here the snails love them too.
LOL! : > )

I am lucky , no snails here except the large native ones and they only eat leaf litter..Grasshoppers we have trouble with

Pitta:
Yes, I've heard from Marguerite and Bernieh that you
are so lucky not to have snails in Australia.
Grasshoppers and leafcutters are a huge problem here...
and they're still eating my plants...especially my Acalypha
plants.

They have plenty in southern states , snails that is .

Pitta:
So you do have snails in Australia.
I'm assuming just in the Northern areas of
Australia...you don't have snails?
We have 3 types of snails as far I know...all
are from Africa. One of the 3 snail eats the
pesty one -- which we have hundred of...however,
there's not enough of the good one to control
the bad snails.

In the Tropics we have many snail land and tree snail;s but none eat our plants ,they live on leaf litter or rotting wood ..In the southern states they have many introduced snails that are a curse for gardeners, cpt James Cook maybe brought out the first ones on the Endeavour.

You're so lucky your snails don't eat the plants.
I can certainly relate to the people who live in
Australia's Southern States. Snails are in the
top 5 worst pests in California.

I have also only ever seen the tropical rainforest slugs in the forest never in my garden ,

Pitta:
Again you're so lucky! We have tons of slugs also.

I am such a lucky duckie

Pitta:
Yes, you are - - to live in a tropical climate and
have such a wonderful garden.
Although, I do consider myself very lucky also...
with the exception of snail and slugs. : > )
