Thanks for your comments. The "path" (actually the little space between the Elegia capensis and the Cryptomeria japonica Cristata) is clearer now, as the Elegia has been replaced by a Casuarina cunninghamiana (which is much narrower).
The extra space will be used in summer for Proteas/Banksias in pots.
Spaces never last long in this garden...........

I hope it's a going to be good summer at last (with some occasional rain to help).
I had 22 flowers on one Banksia in 2008 - but the summer ended before they could finish developing.
Ho hum. That's life.
