Interesting structure, is it to grow climbers over ? That'll look gorgeous if so.

I like your Phormiums too, very architectural :-)

Looks lovely agree with Louise some clematis or passifloras would look lovely growning over them.

That was one thought.I'll have to look up passifloras.. I have a very long bare fence to cope with too, and now a new shed I'd like to grow something over, so all suggestions are welcome.

I would be tempted to leave those lovely blue hoops unplanted....they are a great contrast to the phormiums, and a feature in their own right (they remind me of a grand water feature...). If you planted the bare fence with climbers, the hoops would act as "picture frames" to the view beyond...

You could line your fence with Hebe, Azeleas or Rhododendrons or Buddliea which would attract butterflies to your garden, which butterflies represent love, which will bring colour and eventurally some cover for the birds and wild life, that visit your garden, as you don't like weeding I would just dig a half circle big enough for the plant and place the plant with in the half circle in between you could use climbers growing up the fence, Roses, Jasmine, Honey suckle, clematis.

It was intentional the reference to water fountaining out of the well..hence the blue. Will poinder the whether to climb plants over or not..already started with Buddlieas against the end of the fence,Hebe further up, Rhododendrons across the other side- seems to like the slighly acid soil, so it's thought..just expensive and slow! Have self seeded wild buddlieas which grow hugely fast, so I'll try and find some fere seedlings! \The butterflies do like them , don't they!

Yes the butterflies certainly do.

This is really bold but feminine! i love it. Have you considered a white flowered wisteria twisting through it, the long flower heads would hang like a canopy, they are fragrant also.

Nice idea; I have been wondering where to take this. It is now leading to a small avenue of Japanese cloud trees in a photinia hedge, and a beach hut type shed (in progress!). Something is definitely needed...

And definately tea and cake underneath, with a newspaper of course
