Cutting garden..two attempts at using this area for vegetables failed, so new soil in raised beds, near a house door worked well. Unfortunately, the florist is no longer with us..

Have you got children that could help or is interested as you do say us, what in the way of veg have you tried growing here. ? as some veg love deep soil and these don't look that deep.

The veg were tried into the original ground. Ended up digging everything out, laying anti weed mat, then putting what you see on top.. I am going to have to empty it again, as it went beserk this year while I was away, and was more than half weeds..I'm currently trying to decide what to put back in..suggestions? I had vague thoughts of block planting colourful somethings..!

Would make great herb gardens Stevey especially if they're near the house. Lots of herbs are just as beautiful as garden flowers.

I agree with Janey. Herbs would be good to grow in raised beds. Maybe the florist would have liked them aswell. They can look very artistic, and smell wonderful.

That's a good idea Janey.....that would be very fragrant too. I'm sure the florist would have loved that idea. Some thyme spilling over the edges...basil, sage, hyssop, bergamot, even some mint (nicely contained in something).......Fantastic.

Not a bad idea, I do cook..as did Jill. I have got the odd gooseberry bush in there, (don't ask me) which could then stay..

I have a small square raised garden Stevie which was here when we came 3 years ago. Made of old brick, I planted Lemon Thyme, variegated Sage, Rosemary amongst Lavender and Chives and like Gilli says its covered the edges........just need some Fennel and Dill this next Spring for height...:o)
