Areaca vestiaria - Orange Crownshaft Palm

This gorgeous palm can only grow well in a truly tropical climate...there's very few in San Diego, CA. This photo was taken at the Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe, O' ahu, Hawaii on August 9, 2009.

Palms have fruit. The red fruits are very spectacular against the orange crownshaft. : > )

Thanks! I love this palm...I don't have one...and have only seen a few in San Diego at a few resorts and at the San Diego Zoo...they tend to look unhappy outside in the ground here though. I don't think they like temps. below 65 degrees F. / 19 degrees C.
