It is an Australian 'Laburnum'. There was a thread on 'Dave's Garden' bemoaning the fact that Laburnum would not grow in the warmer states. Maybe this is the answer.

Vincent - good point ... this tree is also given the common name of 'Indian laburnum' and is a distant relative of the genus Laburnum.

Maybe thats the answer Vincettunne , Thet are a lovely tree . one common name locally is Cascara bean. The pods are round and black .and, hang from the tree in tresses, each one can get to 16 inches long.

Such a gorgeous sight at summertime! Mine's just started flowering a couple of weeks ago now ... waiting for it to be covered in blooms.
