I think it did well as this one was under the snow for a few days and it now looks as though the buds are opening.

It's certainly a fighter Clarice.
Southern California! Not really, more like a very soggy Arctic at the moment Cat.
It's been a very strange season so far with all sorts of things having the odd bloom.

Been well insulated under the snow Toto.Lost a few plants to the harsh conditions here, notably our 3 "hardy" fuchsias and 2 coprosmas. However our Callistemons have emerged unscathed !!

I have put wedding roses in the freezer to keep , they keep well until you take them out and then they go off quickly ... the same thing must happen here ...

I'm not sure Amy as although the open rose has deteriorated further the buds around it are open even more and that is in spite of more snow and even colder conditions and now the thaw.

Are you in southern California then?..lol..must be nice to live in a warm pocket. I had one little yellow rose bud that I intended to take a picture of right at the beginning of Dec. ..it was picked and brought in to me. I was told that the deer could not get my last bud now...I should have taken a photo right then, but I put it in water with the intention of taking a photo... it bloomed out right away ...it just was not the same as being outside on the plant anyway...
I am surprised that you have so many things blooming for you through winter...I have some Siberian Irises that have sprouted to about 6 inches above the ground but nothing else looking awake out there... :)
