Lovely tall spires. Can't quite see what they are but they look great.

They are in fact Foxgloves.I did a mass planting of about 150 that year.It looked very impressive.

Have they seeded themselves?

No it was very patchy.I reckon it was down to the soil which is alkaline in this spot.In another part of the garden the ph is neutral and they seem to reseed happily there.
