Brilliant Gee ! All gone on our favourites. Two years ago when first moved in had just 3 visit.By the next year there were about 7...and now we seem to have a "charm" of around 15.Just you wait until spring when their babies arrive !

I don't know where they've arrived from, BB. The niger seeds have been out for about two months with only sparrows as takers! I thought I caught a glimse of the goldfinches about a week ago but wasn't sure now they are back and forth all day. I am so thrilled that I am getting close to boring my family to death :)

Please send me some. My niger seed remains untouched.

That's how I felt about a week ago, Toto. Keep looking and I'm sure they will suddenly arrive - they are certainly worth the wait :)

I agree Gee. I just hope they turn up soon.

Toto....Our goldfinches enjoy sunflower hearts just as much as niger seeds.Have you some of those in a feeder
Gee once they find you they will stay !

Not yet Bonkers but need to buy more seed this weekend so will get some to try.

I was lucky enough to receive some vouchers for Christmas so I bought a new bird feeding station. I hope it will attract even more birds. I have used my seat/arbour to hang food from but they are making quite a mess of it - I certainly wouldn't want to sit there at the moment so I am planning on moving the food over the next few days :)

Sit and enjoy Gee. You do know it's supposed to be lucky don't you!

1 Jan, 2010

Um, can I pass on that one, Toto? I don't have a hat :)

1 Jan, 2010

LOL ! We live next door to a rookery so you can imagine the size of our "gifts " !!

1 Jan, 2010

Just appreciate that which is given freely Bonkers.

Wilcos is the cheapest place to buy niger seed, PP, if you have one near you. I know I'm lucky, Milky, it's the first time I've had them in my garden and I can't stop smiling :)

wow...... so many goldfinches your so lucky...........

2 Jan, 2010

Brilliant Gee, thats where i get my nigger seed from infact i get all my seed from Wilco's. i find my coldfinches come for quite a while and then disappear for ages then all come back together again.

2 Jan, 2010

Wilco's are good for mealworms too. I've been counting the goldfinches today and only two have been on the feeder at a time. I agree with you, Clarice, they are so pretty. I didn't realise how many different colours they had in them until I took the photos :)

Dont know if its just me but i think to say we dont live in a tropical country we have some stunning beautiful little birds, but dont think we realize till we start taking photos of them.

2 Jan, 2010

Very true, Clarice, and I think GoY makes us look at things differently too!

2 Jan, 2010

just amazing.............

2 Jan, 2010

I agree Clarice and I`ve noticed the birds are returning to the gardens in droves. I `m wondering if its because we are getting what I refer to as proper wintry conditions. Lovely photo Gee......
