Olearia Daisy bush in bloom

Olearia Daisy bush in bloom (Olearia macrodonta (Daisy bush))

This Olearia always blooms on the 5th July. It is stunning and gives off a delicious honey perfume. Surprisingly the honey bees don't like it...probably a tongue length thing!

Beautiful.
How long does it take to grow to this size?

This bush was a refugee from a friends garden and its been there about ten years. A young bush might take anywhere from 5-10 years in good ground to grow that size. I have planted a hedge of them as they take readily from cuttings. Its about 5 ft high. I'll post a pic in the summer when it is in flower!

Thank you for the information.
I have a Daisy bush sent to me by a GoY member about a year ago.
Doing well in a pot... the plant is now about nine inches high...
I guess it will take a while to grow large....
It looks very healthy :o)

TT..glad your OM is doing well. Do you have room in your garden to plant it in the ground. They do grow quite large in time but don't mind hard pruning :o)

Yes, I can find a space in my front garden..
The place I have in mind gets all day summer sunshine...on clear days...Lol.
Does that sounds suitable ?
Do you trim it immediately after flowering to ensure blooms the following year ?

Wonderful display can smell it from here : O ))

Sixp, yes it's a lovely smell, especially on a warm, still summers eve...hmmm! TT..Yes prune after flowering, but if you're hard pruning don't leave it too late into the autumn as cold weather can damage a baldy plant! If hard pruning maybe sacrifice the flowers for one year and prune in May ;o)
