Thanks Janey. This strip along southern Utah has been protected containing this park, Zions, Kodachrome basin, and the Grand Canyon. The sandstone slab off the US western mountain states breaks away along here in elevation drops 1000-3000ft to the deserts of Arizona, New Mexico, and California. I got great photos of the Great Salt Lake but many disappeared when I shrunk them to post. I've still got one to post, though not my favorite. That salty basin is the remnant of a great lake that used to fill much of this huge mesa like slab of sandstone covering most of Utah.

Agreed Janey, an amazing thing. I always imagine that enormous lake draining through here, forming all this once its containment was broken. Those enormous events are just so awesome!
