I wonder if they are finding there's less competition for food in a garden than on their ponds? Mine hasn't been back yet but I am hoping :)

i just think with fozen conditions they cant get to food which they would normally near ponds Gee, it did say on snow watch the birds we wouldnt normally have in gardens are coming in desperate for food, even though snow gone we must keep feeding up till ground softens and insects and worms come back for them to feed ;o)) hope you see yours again to

I think if he's come from the Mere they feed them extra food every day, mind you if there like us we all eat alot more when weather is like this. So all the birds will fight for more i bet.

Mine only has to fly over the fence, Sanbaz! There are two families of them over there but it seems like only one visits me :)

The village pond is just the other side of my back fence, Sanbaz. The ducks are frequent visitors in the garden especially in the breeding season :)

thats lovely Gee, im quite lucky here to in my village as we have lots of ponds and a fisheries with man made lakes which attract lots of ducks etc, i must get some pics in spring as you can go there for coffee and also is a walk path, dont have to be there for fishing,
